ALUMINIUM DYNACYLER
As with all vehicle recovery equipment operators must be trained in the use of such equipment and also be proficient in handling the risks they are exposed to at the roadside and other locations. The Dynacycler is considered to be an item of vehicle recovery equipment and as such should only be operated by professional vehicle recovery operators who have an understanding of motorcycle construction and operation.
The front bar is fitted with two wheels which are braked. To apply the brake push down the protruding lever above the wheel with your foot. To release the brake push down and forward the top part of the lever. When it is necessary to apply brakes ensure both brakes are applied to prevent Dynacycler from ‘swinging around’ one fixed wheel only.
To assemble the wheel cup to the wheel holder first insert one side into slotted hole in wheel holder. Secondly locate other side of wheel cup into top of slot. Lastly press firmly downwards to fully engage wheel cup into wheel holder. Note, that there are several positions for the wheel cup, choose the position that will suit the size of motorcycle wheel to be placed into it. The wheel cup may be fitted with the long side to the rear or the short side to the rear. Generally fit it with the long side to the rear. However, it may be necessary to fit the short side to the rear to clear ‘belly pans’ fitted to some motorcycles.
Throughout the entire loading and unloading process it must always be ensured that the motorcycle is secure and cannot be allowed to fall.
LOADING MOTORCYCLE ONTO SLIDEBED BODY
Deploy slidebed body to loading position with shallowest angle possible.
Position assembled Dynacycler at base of body, apply both brakes on front bar, attach winch rope, rotate wheel cup rear wards and position front wheel of motorcycle in line with the Dynacup cup.
Grasp motorcycle firmly and push forward into wheel cup so that the Dynacup ‘over centres’ and locates around rear of motorcycle wheel.
With the motorcycle wheel securely positioned in the Dynacycler the motorcycle MUST be fastened to the Dynacyler before attempting any movement.
With the straps provided secure the front of the motorcycle to the Dynacycler by fastening the straps around the forks and securing the other end to the Dynacycler.
THE STRAPS MUST BE IN LINE WITH THE FORKS. Damage may result if straps are not in line with forks. Fit auxiliary strap around wheel and tighten.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN STRAPS
Whilst steadying motorcycle operate winch to pull Dynacyler and motorcycle up the slidebed body. Do not stand behind or ‘downhill’ of a load being winched.
Note, some slidebed bodies may have a thick end to the body resulting in a large ‘step’ for the Dyncycler wheels to negotiate. It is necessary in these circumstances to provide a small ramp plate from the body to the ground to allow the Dynacycler wheels to negotiate the ‘step’.
When motorcycle and Dynacycler are in desired position on slidebed deck, apply both brakes on Dynacycler front bar. Leave the winch connected to the Dynacycler to prevent any rolling or sliding movement down the slidebed deck.
Securing straps are now required to be fitted to hold the motorcycle securely to the body deck. This is to be carried out before remounting the slidebed body.
Select suitable strong point(s) on the rear of the motorcycle to fasten ratchet straps to and secure to slidebed deck. Ensure that the positioning of the ratchet straps does not tend to tip the motorcycle rearwards or pull it over sideways, when fastening. A sideways pull downwards is preferred.
Secure the Dynacycler to the slidebed deck attaching the ratchet straps to the slots provided in the Dynacyler front bar.
Ensure ratchets straps are not overtightened.
When all straps are secure remount slidebed body.
During transit the ratchet straps and position of motorcycle must be regularly monitored to ensure the security of the motorcycle.
